The beauty that Sundays are 💖

A chance to reflect, recharge, reset, restart.

Past couple of weeks have been quite busy. I was programming, I was writing, I was shopping, attending events, etc. They went by pretty fast. And the coming weeks are even busier with many functions to attend and preparations for a trip.

Whenever I get busy and life starts to fly by, I get reminded of the reason I designed my Sundays the way they are. Why I spend all my day sitting alone, thinking, writing, when I could be doing something entertaining, or something productive.

It’s quite simple — pressing the pause button on Sundays helps me see what truly matters. It allows me to zoom out and see the bigger picture, it allows me to reflect on what I’m doing and what’s happening around me. I force myself to stop doing everything and realize that it’s possible, that it doesn’t hurt. I realize that there’s no reason to hurry, that I can stay here for a while.

I give you an example. I’m in the middle of a book project and I’m way behind the schedule. I’m pretty sure that I’ll ask for an extension on deadline. And as I said, I’m gonna attend several functions, and then travel for two weeks. Yet, I did not work on my book today, cause you know, Sundays are sacred.

And what did I realize by staying free today? That work is just a part of my life. That one bug I left unresolved yesterday, I can fix it tomorrow. But today, it does not matter. Today, I drink coffee and I write. Today I breathe. Today I just be.

I realized that my ambitions, my plans, my ego, are all unbounded and I can let go of them for some time. I realized that distractions and roadblocks are inevitable, irrelevant, and stem from desire, and hence, I can let go of them as well.

I realized I did my best this week and that’s work ethic, but I did not try to squeeze in extra hours today and that’s my life ethic. I cannot compromise on either one.

Sundays are cozy and comfortable. They are like the much needed transit between two long flights. They allow you to ease in to the next week, to course correct, to gently start over. Sundays are beautiful 💖.

🤔 Makes me wonder
