I published a book!
Well, sort of 😅
Okay okay it’s not a book. Technically it’s a course. But I love calling it a book because you know, it makes me feel better about myself. Writing a book, the tag of an author, it sounds prestigious. Also it’s way easier to explain a “book” compared to a “course”. Helps me dodge some of the questions.
Well whatever it is, let me tell you about it! Remember me mentioning several times that I’ve written a massive course and it’s due for publishing? Yes, that one. It got published last week. After more than 9 months of waiting (and a rigorous review process), they finally published my work 🥹.
What’s it about?
It’s a programming course. It teaches beginner programmers how they can advance their skills in various aspects of app development. The course helps them write more performant apps, organize their code effectively, implement certain features, and speed up their development process. In short, my course helps them write better code. (In layman terms of course)
I wrote about 65,000 words that span across 54 lessons and 6 assessments. I also developed 38 tiny apps that serve as working example of the covered topic, making it more like an interactive book. This means that the student can first read about the concept and then apply it right away to form a deeper understanding. Pretty cool, right?
How does it feel?
Now that is some question. It’s been almost 3 years since I started working on this project. So this is by far the biggest project I’ve brought to completion. This is the longest marathon I’ve ever run. And now that I’ve crossed the finish line, I feel… uhm, it’s a mixed feeling.
Yes I feel happy. The fact that I persevered for so long and finished what I started, it’s definitely not an ordinary thing. So I do feel the sense of accomplishment.
But at the same time, there’s a tension of sorts. Cause now it’s result time! Now is the time that people will see my work, and may be pay for it. And that’s what I want — I want my book to sell! I don’t want it to go into a void. I want people to read my words.
Do you know what happens when you want something that’s really not in your control? You put your heart on the verge of breaking. It can go either way, but that’s where I am emotionally — on the verge of heartbreak.
I suppose every author feels the same way?
Anywayysss, I published a book!
I’ll see you next week!
