Hey stranger

I wrote a poem ✒️

Hey stranger,

It seems like you don’t remember me
Why would you I mean, when you’ve left the tree

I had a weird dream that lasted about twenty years
We were in a playground, lying on the grass
Care free

We went from toddlers to children
Children to teens
Teens to adults
Together
Suddenly I woke up and there was nothing left to gather

I see a mirror in my room
It has no reflection
No matter what I say, or do
I can’t find my shadow, hope you feel it too (I know you don’t)

I’ve been told for long
That people don’t change, they just shed layers
Please please tell me
That this isn’t what was underneath all along

It’s not the first time you’ve made me sad
But deep down I knew you’d always have my back
Well, I was wrong about everything
Was it really meant to be this bad? What did I do?

All the gifts you gave me
I use them every day
Every single day
Even your reactions to mine
I’ve preserved in my heart all this time
But you don’t remember shit
So it’s time to throw it all away

I think you somehow figured out
That you were special
Maybe that’s why you decided
To leave us and fly
Well, give your freakin’ best
Cause little do you know, poor birdie,
That you need this tree to lay out a nest

I wonder if you’re enjoying this new life
I wonder if you’re happy or not
Cause your face tells one thing
But your gut tells a lot

They say
Only the ones you love have the power to destroy you
So how many you’ve destroyed this time
Can you take a guess or would you like a clue?
Definitely more than you can apologize to

You know what I’ve experienced
Love fixes everything
No matter how many mistakes you make
Or how stupid you behave
Love saves you, protects you, heals you
But looks like you’ve limited your sources to just one
Are you sure that’s enough? Sure that it won’t run out?
If it does, what will you do? Where will you go?

You can come over
There’s always place for you in my home
But sorry little birdie
I can’t hold you in my heart any more
Cause you know, it’s broken

I tried
I tried with high hopes
But now I’m tired
Think I’ll just accept this strangeness of yours

Hope we do not meet again
Cause now the idea of you
Is more beautiful than the real you
Cause now it hurts more to see you
Than it does to stay away from you

I thought I’ll be indifferent, stoic
I thought I won’t let it out
But I couldn’t help myself
Cause you can only hate whom you’ve loved
There’s nothing in-between

So here it is
A ballad of treachery
A ballad of grief

Good luck, stranger!

🤔 Makes me wonder

You will get several opportunities to do good work, great work even. You will make an impact, you will bag awards and earn prestigious titles. You will feel valued, worthy, on the top of the world.

In those moments, please remember this:

💭 Aphorisms

My biggest strength is the inability to do what I don’t wanna.

You can follow a straight line and get where you want. But then where’s the adventure?

You are not entitled to anything. So it won’t take much for you to lose everything.

Reject everything. Accept yourself.

Keep your nice and give me good!

This was my first attempt at poetry and was never intended. I didn’t write it very consciously, and I tried to stay authentic, true to what I felt.
